WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM ENTAIL?
Seeking to promote reading and writing as a strategy for empowerment, diffusion of leadership and to configure a critical mass of readers in the Colombian Pacific and urban centers with a high presence of Afro-descendant population, the Manos Visibles Organization offers the Laboratory of Black Narratives, a space for discussion and literary reflection that seeks to encourage a generation of new stories, leadership processes, and advocacy for organizational and community processes through reading “En Mi Piel” by Lázaro Ramos.
For Manos Visibles, the formation of a Poder Pacífico Narrative constitutes a new ecosystem of transformation and meaningfulness from the cultural sphere that manages to capture from its axes of intervention new audiences and reflections from previously underexplored points. In this sense, the development and strengthening of these expressions as fundamental tools of communication shape new approaches that Manos Visibles implements.
With this in mind, the Laboratory of Black Narratives works from two essential elements, the first being the scarce circulation of literary material and access to it among the inhabitants of the Pacific coast. The second is based on the absence of articles designed for the inhabitants of this region that attend to their interests and cultural bases. For this reason, the laboratory through its main components seeks to generate an approach to reading and writing from narratives that, in addition to awakening the interest in the readers, are based on aspects that generate intimacy and act as a reflection of new representative frameworks.
This is all done in order to generate processes of social awareness through the representation and visibility of narratives that are consolidated as references of the territory.

The main intention of this network is to involve more than 100 cultural leaders in scenarios of dialogue, reflection and the reading of narratives with their own points of view that leads them to the qualification of discourses on racial equity by reading the book “En Mi Piel” by Lázaro Ramos.
The Power of Culture
By narrating our fears, our voice frees other souls.
We believe that cultural leadership holds a power whose voices, when informed, manage to elucidate, recognize and influence the transformation of society in a conscious, participatory and effective way; always using cultural languages and narratives as the guiding axis. This undoubtedly fulfills a double social function by, first, creating references for the new generations and, secondly, generating influence in the groups through codes and symbols of shared identity.
