The Development Management Training Program for Afro-Colombian leaders in Cartagena and the North of Bolivar is the decision of women who are both leaders and forgers of development in their communities. It is the use of self-recognition as the vehicle that, through its own motivation, through the transformation of individual aptitudes and capacities, maintains a continuous march towards the creation of critical masses that perpetuate their knowledge and experiences as tools of collective development;it is the elaboration and execution of innovative actions of empowerment, decision making and social construction.
In its three previous promotions, the Development Management program for Afro-Colombian Leaders in Cartagena had more than 90 female leaders who received a high-level training process aimed at improving their management skills. They also managed to develop a network of relationships and contacts that have allowed them to access scholarship programs, apply for calls and manage specific projects for their communities, advance professional practices in international organizations such as the European Union, and have the support of a network of support and collaboration that has integrated leaders from different sectors of the country.
The program allowed Visible Hands to learn stories of strength, fortitude, virtue, hope, and empowerment from women who developed an individual process of evolution and use in their capacities and social conditions towards the construction of a new scheme that allows them, their families, and their community, to manage and cement their own development process, in a scenario of recognition and vindication of their identity, culture, history, and participation, in order to achieve the effective and sustainable inclusion of their communities. Women from Cartagena and different towns in the north of Bolívar; some with professional and community experiences of many years, others with youth and stories full of temperance and very important projection for the social growth of their communities.
