“There is a key piece that is always missing when looking to solve problems from social innovation: the voice of those who are in the community. Who live in poverty? They are the ones who best understand the root causes of their communities' difficulties, but they are rarely consulted.”

Dayna Cunningham Executive Director, MIT CoLab

Community Innovation School

The Community Innovation School is a program that promotes new capacities in organizations through co-creation and collective work, as ways to enhance their knowledge and thereby influence the construction of development alternatives for their communities.

This initiative was designed and implemented in partnership with MIT Colab (Community Innovators Lab), a planning and development center within the Department of Studies and Urban Planning (DSUP) of MIT. The CoLab facilitates the exchange of knowledge and resources between MIT and community organizations. They engage with students to practice this approach to community change and sustainability. This program had its first edition in 2014 and its second generation in 2016. You can see the detail on the site here: www.innovacioncomunitaria.com
