The Manos Visibles Corporation joined forces with the Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano, and with the support of the Ford Foundation and the Fundación Suramericana, to provide financial support to 35 cultural managers of the Colombian Pacific to complete a master's degree in Cultural and Audiovisual Management and Production. Our commitment is to contribute to the consolidation of a peaceful cultural power that changes the antiquated narratives of isolation and vies for a Pacific with the possibility of becoming a regional power through its first asset: culture. Consequently, we seek that the culture of the Colombian Pacific generates an agenda and a critical mass of leaders that help rethink and generate a region that imbues the rest of the country and the African diaspora with its cultural power.
The call to the Pacific and its leaders is to bring to the surface a substantial rise in its cultural power, taking into account that it is a region that is environmentally and culturally mega-diverse and that its main references are cultural in nature. And that this element is essential to generating multiple changes in structural issues from its symbolic power. The call is comprised of shared meanings and mental structure of the specific regions, as well as its positioning within the country at large.
For this reason, the graduation projects of the 35 selected will be part of the 2020-2030 Pacific Cultural Agenda. The idea is that these ventures and new strategies detonate a cultural revolution in a region that turns the whole concept of stunted literacy outcomes on its ear. Through robust projects and initiative, we want to train leaders who are catalysts and amplifiers of the power of culture and its role in society.
A través de la cultura el hombre se expresa, toma conciencia de sí mismo, se reconoce como un proyecto inacabado, pone en cuestión sus propias realizaciones, busca incansablemente nuevas significaciones, y crea obras que lo trascienden.
